Aled Ethan Last is one of the two protagonists of Radio Silence and a recurring character in Heartstopper and Nick and Charlie.
In Radio Silence, he is the creator of Universe City, the sci-fi podcast that Frances Janvier is obsessed with, the twin brother of Carys Last, and the boyfriend of Daniel Jun. In Heartstopper, he is best friends with Elle Argent, Tao Xu, Tara Jones, Nick Nelson, Darcy Olsson, Charlie Spring, and Sahar Zahid.
Appearance
Aled is of average height, standing at 5'7". He has a very soft appearance to him, having round green eyes, blonde hair, and a round face. In Heartstopper, he wears over-sized sweaters and joggers and many T-Shirts with '95 on it.
In Radio Silence, he never seemed to be comfortable with the clothes he wore, and always looked like "a child who'd lost their mum in a supermarket". Like Frances Janvier, Aled enjoys wearing weird clothes, but was often seen wearing plain clothes like Daniel Jun had picked them for him.
In the future, Aled wears androgynous clothing, and has his hair grown out to above his shoulders. His natural hair color has returned, although he has light pink streaks at the end. He has his ears pierced, and has tattoos of a radio, buildings, and planets on his right arm and bicep.
Personality
Aled is shy, quiet, and very introverted. He is more of an observer, as noted when Charlie tells him that he and Nick are dating, Aled says that he knew for a while but didn't want to say anything to keep them happy. He applies this logic to his relationship with his boyfriend, Daniel, as they kept to themselves so they didn't have to explain to people.
Relationships
The two met on Twitter, though neither of them knew it was each other until later. Their friendship truly began when Aled called Frances and quoted Universe City. This sparked a chain of events that led to them becoming very good friends. Frances also started helping Aled with some aspects of Universe City. When Aled started avoiding everyone while he was at university, Frances was the one to take action to help him.
Aled and Daniel have been friends since birth. Though the two of them are different, they're "inseperable". When they were fourteen, they kissed for the first time, and their relationship developed from there. They didn't want to explain it to people, so they kept it as something just for themselves. After Carys left, Daniel felt as if there was a strain in their relationship, though they were able to get through it by the end of Radio Silence.
The disappearance of his twin had a large impact on Aled. The entirety of Universe City was a cry for help, hoping that Carys would find him again. Thankfully, Frances was able to get Carys to visit Aled, which got Aled to stop running. After the events of Radio Silence, Aled lives with Carys.
Aled dislikes his mother, due to her belief that academia is the only path in life. Their relationship became even more strained when she took excessive control over his life by killing his dog, changing his room completely and cutting his hair without his permission.
In Heartstopper, the two are good friends, though Aled was not able to notice Charlie's eating disorder. Alice has stated that the two drift away before the events of Radio Silence, perhaps reconnecting in the future.
The two are good friends. Aled is often the one trying to stop Tao from accidentally hurting others, due to the fact that Tao is loud and very blunt.

- Alice and many others believe that sometime in the future, Aled will come to identify as non-binary. Official art depicting Aled in the future shows him wearing androgynous clothing and styling his hair androgynously. This is not canon, however, and people can believe whatever they want to in this regard.
- Aled is the only member of the Paris Squad to be written out of the Netflix adaptation of Heartstopper and his role has been replaced with a new character, Isaac. The reason for this was that Alice felt they couldn't give Aled a satisfying story arc in the series without derailing the elements of Radio Silence, and instead hoped to save his story for a possible Radio Silence adaptation in the future instead.
